Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, born on March 26, 1991 often referred to professionally under the other name Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and was the first female signing with J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. The label released her first EP titled Pho in October of 2016 when she began getting noticed. Shea Butter Baby is her debut album. It was released on May 19, 2019. Ari Lennox posted her songs online in 2012, when she dropped her the Five Finger Discount mixtape and Ariography EP in 2013. In 2014, she released additional music on the internet including Bound. The song Sweat it part of Omen's Elephant Eyes album, which was released on July 21, 2015. J. Cole asked her to collaborate with him for Rihanna's references. Later in the year, her music was played throughout Dreamville. She officially was signed with Dreamville Records on 8 December. Backseat is one of the songs she co-wrote with Cozz on the album collaboratively titled Revenge of the Dreamers II. In October 2016 the singer-songwriter released her debut EP Pho. Ari Lennox appeared in J. Cole's Change track and also opened the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017. In 2018, she was able to appear on two tracks with her label-mates EarthGang in Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. On the 16th of July in 2018, Ari Lennox released the first single, Whipped Cream from her debut album Shea Butter Baby with an accompanying music video that was released on September 5. The second single she released was, Grampa on November 9. In November 2013 she released No One, and Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby was released on her debut single, February 26, 2019, for the album Creed II. Shea Butter Baby was featured with Cole on her Creed II sound track on November 16. This track, which was made available with a video posted on YouTube on February 20, 2019, was watched more than three million times over the first 7 days. In support of the track She toured in concert with 6LACK in December of 2018 for The From East Atlanta With Love Tour.
